🌾 About the Young Show

The 152nd Young Show returns to Young Showground on Sunday 20 September 2026, bringing together agriculture, family entertainment, local talent and more than 150 years of country show tradition.

Held each September, the Young Show is one of the region’s longest-running community events — a day where town and country come together through livestock, working dogs, pavilion competitions, machinery, local displays, entertainment and plenty for children.

And there is much more included in your gate entry than you might expect.

🎪 What’s happening in 2026

Across the showground, visitors can watch and explore:

• Young Show Yard Dog Trial Championship
• Sheep Penning – new for 2026
• Vintage tractor pull
• Cattle judging
• Prime Lamb Hoof & Hook competition
• Car, truck and bike shows
• Grand Parade
• Pavilion displays and competitions
• School displays
• Lego exhibition
• Local musical talent
• Fireworks at 8pm

The main pavilion is filled with the traditions of a classic country show, including cooking, jams and preserves, produce, agricultural exhibits, wool fleeces, photography, handicrafts, horticulture, fine art, porcelain and creative competitions.

Families can enjoy a range of entertainment without paying extra once they are through the gate, including:

• Roving magicians
• Reptile display
• Face painting
• Memphis Moovers – new for 2026

• Local music and entertainment
• Junior Show Day competitions
• Fireworks finale

The Junior Show Day competitions include Show Bubs, Tiny Tots, Master Show Boy, Miss Belle, Master Stockman and Miss Junior Showgirl, with no additional entry fee to compete.

🧺 Bring a picnic and make a day of it

You don’t have to spend heavily once you arrive.

Families are welcome to bring their own food and enjoy a picnic in the family area overlooking the arena, where they can settle in and watch the Yard Dog Trials and the new Sheep Penning competition.

For those wanting to buy something on the day, there will also be show food, local trade stalls, a pavilion kitchen operated by Rotary and CWA, and the Show bar.

💫 A real country show experience

The Young Show is about much more than rides.

It is working dogs and livestock in the arena, tractors and trucks on display, cakes and preserves competing for ribbons, children proudly finding their work in the pavilion and generations of local families coming together for one of Young’s longest-running traditions.

It is a chance to experience the agricultural heritage of the Hilltops while enjoying a relaxed family day out.

🎆 Stay for the fireworks

The day finishes with the Young Show’s fireworks display at 8pm.

Residents living around the Showground are reminded to make sure pets are safely secured before the fireworks begin, as loud noises can frighten animals and cause them to escape.

How much is admission?
Family admission, for a maximum of two adults, is $40. Single admission is $15, pensioners $10 and children $5.

What is included once I’m through the gate?
A large program of agricultural events, displays and family entertainment is included, including the animal nursery, reptile display, roving magicians, face painting, children’s activities, local musical entertainment, working dog trials, sheep penning, pavilion exhibits, vehicle displays, Grand Parade and fireworks.

Do we have to buy food at the Show?
No. Visitors are welcome to bring their own food and enjoy a picnic in the family area. Food and drinks are also available to purchase.

Are rides included in admission?
No. Sideshow rides, games, food and purchases from stalls are additional.

What time are the fireworks?
8pm. Please remember to safely secure pets before the display.
