Staffed entirely by volunteers and auspiced by Boorowa Rotary, the Boorowa Op Shop is a rare local treasure and a must‑visit for residents and travellers alike. We rely on the generosity of Hilltops locals, visiting friends and relatives, and tourists who donate quality second-hand clothes and products, shop, and pitch in to keep the doors open and the good work flowing.

🎁 How Your Shopping Helps

Funds raised by the Boorowa Op Shop stay local, supporting projects and organisations across the Boorowa area — including the Early Education Centre, Hospital Auxiliary, Lions, the Rural Fire Service, Rotary initiatives, the Community Garden, the Men’s Den, and St Vincent de Paul (Boorowa Conference), among others.

Each volunteer nominates one or more charities, and proceeds are shared in proportion to time contributed. For example, if a volunteer contributes 15% of total hours in a year, their nominated charity receives 15% of the net proceeds (after rent, electricity and essential costs). It’s a fair, transparent way to turn time into tangible community support.

There are no paid staff at the Boorowa Op Shop — just generous locals who give what they can. Some offer two hours a month; others gift a day or two each week. It’s flexible, social, and deeply rewarding. As Lyn Diskon says:

Open Thursday and Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Drop in to hunt for a bargain, donate pre‑loved items, or ask about volunteering — every visit helps the wider community.
