Exhibitions, Galleries & Public Art

Step into the Burrangong Gallery at Anderson Park, Young — a community-run space supported by Young Society of Artists Inc., where local exhibitions rotate regularly. Located in the Hilltops Visitor Information Centre, the gallery is just one part of Young’s growing arts precinct.

In each of Young, Boorowa and Harden, you’ll also find stunning public artworks — from silo art to contemporary sculpture and tribute installations like the impressive lifesized “Bill the Bastard” warhorse in Harden-Murrumburrah.

Art and Artisan Sales

Local markets and retail shops across the region stock a range of ceramics, textiles, glassworks, jewellery, and hand-painted pieces. Artists frequently sell direct from their studios or through special events like Hilltops Off The Beaten Track Arts & Cultural Trail — held every March, this beloved event opens up studios and creative spaces across Boorowa, Young, and Harden for 2 weeks of connection, sales, and storytelling.

Live Performances & Cultural Events

Through the efforts of Hilltops Arts Inc, the region is home to the Southern Cross Cinema and Arts Complex in Young — a facility that blends cinema with live performances and rehearsal spaces. Local talent shines here, with theatre, dance, and musical acts regularly taking to the stage. The venue also supports the Young Society of Artists, whose art classes and exhibitions add even more colour to the calendar.

Events like Hilltops Off The Beaten Track Arts and Cultural Trail and seasonal community concerts bring audiences artists and performers together, creating memorable cultural moments for all ages.

Workshops, Lessons & Open Studios

Artists in the Hilltops love to share their craft. Across the region, you’ll find art classes for beginners and experienced makers alike — from drawing and painting to pottery, photography and more. Workshops often take place in open studios or community halls and are hosted by passionate locals like members of the Young Society of Artists, who meet weekly and offer skill-building sessions throughout the year.
